Colome prom is April 30
The Colome High School prom will be held on Friday, April 30 in the Colome gym.
The prom theme is “A Stompin’ Good Time.”
A dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Colome Legion.
The grand march will start at 9 p.m.
Following the grand march there will be a dance. The DJ is Uptown Sounds by Riley Cassidy of Rapid City.
There will be an after prom party hosted by parents of the juniors. The after prom party will feature a mechanical bull riding, sumo wrestling. G-force sling shot, a photo booth and other games and activities.

Winner Summer Nights Dates Set
Winner Area Chamber of Commerce has set the dates for the Winner Summer Nights.
The first summer night will be June 10 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and will be on the third block of Main St.
Dan Clark Auction and Realty is the sponsor.
The theme will be 4-H. The Tripp County 4-H Clubs will be hosting carnival games. The shooting sports and rodeo club will also be involved.
The band will be Westbound.
There will be a dance contest and also a boot contest.
Food vendors will have lot of good food to eat.
The second summer night on Main Street will be July 8. The theme will be a salute to first responder. The sponsor will be the Black Lab.
The band will be Roy and the Bad Boys.
A special event will be a first responder trike race.
The third summer night will be in Colome on Aug. 12 from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Wild West Night will the theme with sponsors Frontier Bar, Bolton Ranch and Valley Seed.
Country Rush will be the band.
The BBQ pit row and classic car show will be held July 31 on Main Street.
The car show is sponsored by Frontier Motors.
There will be several teams competing n the BBQ contest. Prizes will be awarded.
The featured band will be Dustin Evans and the Good Time Band.
Colome FFA Banquet
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is a life-changing program for 8-13 year that promotes girl empowerment by teaching life skills through lessons and physical exercise. Stressing that physical and emotional health is a priority.
The organization recently celebrated its 25th birthday as a national organization.
There are a number of groups in the state. In Winner the group leaders are Lindsay Foster and Emily Tideman. The group meets weekly during the fall season.
For more information contact either of these ladies. The group recently received $200 donation from Modern Woodmen. All donations are needed and appreciated and will be used to provide opportunities for the girls.
Covid-19
The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Tripp County is declining.
As of Monday, there were 7 actives cases and no new confirmed cases.
The number of recovered cases is 726.
The total persons tested for COVID is 2,328.
There are 17 deaths in Tripp County.
Statewide, there were 102 new confirmed cases on Monday and 31 new probable cases.
The number of active cases in South Dakota is 2,153.
There are 112 persons hospitalized with COVID.
The state has administered 528,055 doses of the vaccine to 314,649 residents in the state.
Around 52 percent of the state’s population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Golfers champions at Mobridge
Winner Area girls golf team opened the season by winning the Mobridge Invitational.
Riley Root was the medalist taking first place.
Kelbi Meiners took fifth and Brennan Bachmann placed 9th. Devan Dougherty placed 10th and Gracie Root was 12th.
There are 17 girls on the golf team coached by Jim Halverson. The assistant coach is Liz Jankauskas.
The next meet for the Lady Warriors will be Thursday at the Big Dakota Conference meet in Pierre. On Friday, the girls will travel to Mitchell to play in the Parkston tournament.
Fritz, Bertram play in all star game
Brady Fritz of Winner paced the Blue All Stars to a 99-94 win over the White All Stars at the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association/Sanford Pentagon all star games Saturday in Sioux Falls.
Fritz finished with 16 points and four 3 pointers.
Fritz will play college ball at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.
In the girls all star game, Winner’s Kalla Bertram had 14 points and five rebounds for the Blue team. The White all stars won the game 106-75.
Bertram will play her college ball at Black Hills State University.
Take back drug day is April 24
Take Back Drug Day will be held Saturday, April 24 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. at the Winner police department.
Persons will be able to bring unused or outdated prescriptions to the police department.
This is a nationwide campaign to safely dispose of prescription medications.
