LifeServe Blood Center and Winner Regional Health are excited to announce their new lifesaving partnership. LifeServe Blood Center, ranked as one of the top 15 blood centers in the country, is now the sole supplier of all blood and blood products to eleven new hospitals across South Dakota including Winner Regional Health.
LifeServe Blood Center provides 100% of all blood products needed to more than 130 hospitals across South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. Since the beginning of the year Winner Regional Health has been receiving blood products needed for patient care from LifeServe Blood Center.

100% of the blood products needed at Winner Regional Health and the surrounding area hospitals now come from LifeServe blood donors. The strength of the community blood supply is dependent on local donors, businesses and organizations that donate and sponsor blood drives with LifeServe Blood Center.
To ensure Winner Regional Health and its patients have the blood products they need, the community is hosting two blood drives in May. LifeServe Blood Center and Winner Regional Health are urging the community to boost the blood supply for local patients at these upcoming blood drives. Your donation will ensure those in your community in need of lifesaving blood products will receive them at a moment’s notice.

Twelve students will graduate from Colome High School on May 14. The graduation will be at 4 p.m. in the Colome gym.
The graduates are Alex Davis, Jesse Larson, Kasie Leighton, Caden Munroe, Drew Musilek, Brayden Seegers, Dustin Sell, Riley Shippy, Haley Thomas, Maya Vandenbark, Katelyn Welker, Elizabeth Yeaman.
The commencement address will be given by Wade Juracek, the CHS government teacher.
Supt. Dr. Debbie O’Doan will present the valedictorian and salutatorian. Maya Vandenbark is the valedictorian and Katie Welker is the salutatorian.
The valedictorian speech will be given by Maya Vandenbark.
Legion awards will be presented by Jeff Hrabanek of the Colome American Legion.
There will be several scholarships presented.
The diplomas will b awarded by Matt Bolie of the Colome School Board.
The junior escorts will be Morgan Gill, Landi Krumpus, Kaden Pechota and Jordyn Ring.
The
sophomore ushers are Shaleena Kingsley, Joseph Laprath, Tianna Larson
and Emma Vandenbark.

There will be 45 seniors who will graduate from Winner High School on May 14. Commencement will be at 2 p.m. in the Winner Armory.
The student speakers will be Hattie Hespe and Madaline Watzel.
An outstanding faculty award will be presented by Ellie Brozik, student council president.
The WHS band under the direction of Nicole Pierson will play the processional and a special selection.
The diplomas will be awarded by Mike Calhoon, chairman of the Winner School Board.

The spring season is underway for the Winner/Colome High School trap team.
They are in week 3 of competition scoring. There are five total weeks of competition.
There are 19 shooters from Winner and Colome high schools on the team. There are 51 high schools competing in two classes and 9 conferences in trap. Winner/Colome is in conference 4 along with DeSmet, Deuel, Lemmon, Parker and Wall high schools.
The Winner/Colome team is also competing in the state high school skeet league. There are seven team members shooting skeet.
The skeet league consists of 11 South Dakota high schools and two conferences. Winner/ Colome is in conference 2 along with Belle Fourche, Brookings, Dell Rapids, Deuel and Stanley County.
The state tournament for trap and skeet teams will be June 10-11 in Aberdeen. Several members of the trap team will also compete at the national tournament in Mason, Mich., July 6-10.
Bella Swedlund was a candidate for Miss Basketball and attended the ceremony May 1 in Sioux Falls.
Swedlund set several records while playing basketball for Winner.
Madaline Watzel of the Winner FFA chapter received her state FFA degree, the highest degree in the state. She received this at the state convention held in Brookings April 24-26.
Ainsley Henderson placed third in the agriscience fair in the plant science division. She studied how magnet placement affects plant growth.
Justin Hausmann placed second in the ag communications proficiency award, an award based on his supervised agriculture experience at the local radio station.
Amanda Blare sang the national anthem before the second session.
Adam Bohnet also introduced one of the state FFA officer’s retiring address.
District officers Maggie DeMers and Rowdy Moore also led pre-session Sunday night.
Former Winner FFA member Ryder Mortenson received a $500 post secondary scholarship for former members involved in agriculture.
In the career development events, Ainsley Henderson placed 8th in floriculture.
Ag mechanics placed 21st out of 55 teams. Adam Bohnet was 37th; Andrew Henderson was 102nd, Austin Blare, 103rd and Hunter Shippy, 134.
Horse place 20th out of 45 teams. Kyla Mammen was 37th, Bailey Fairbanks was 52nd and Emily Sachtjen, 122nd.
Livestock placed 19th out of 60 teams. Rowdy Moore placed 52nd, Garret Phillips, 68th; Rylee Schroeder, 88th ad Stetson Shelbourn, 117th.
Meats placed 11th out of 25 teams. Maggie DeMers was 33rd; Clay Sell, 40th Chandler Benedict, 55th and Ryan Sell, 56th.
Vet science placed 46th out of 56 teams. Trista Kierstead, 81st; Amanda Blare, 153rd; Madaline Watzel, 183rd; Sierra McCall, 187th.
