Twila Brunmeier, 86

  Twila Brunmeier, 86, of Winner, SD passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Winner Regional Healthcare Facility in Winner, SD. 

Funeral was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Winner.  Burial followed in the Winner City Cemetery. 

Twila was born to James and Adeline (Redding) Chastain on Sept. 26, 1934 in the family home at Wheeler Bottom on the Missouri River in South Dakota. While Twila was growing up the family moved several times before settling in Winner where Twila graduated from high school in 1954.

Twila married Leonard Brunmeier on Dec. 4, 1954 and to this union 4 boys were born: Danny, Robin, Kelly and Bradley. 

Twila and her sisters Jean and Charlotte worked for Donna Dice and Barb Kuil where they would eventually take over the business and successfully run the Outlaw Café for many years.

In 1979 Leonard and Twila bought their first motorcycle and traveled on this bike to 48 of the 50 states.  For 30 years they would ride their motorcycle to Sturgis to attend the rally.

Twila is survived by sons Danny (Linda), Robin, Kelly (Kathy); grandchildren Justin (Val) of Winner, SD, Danielle (Dan) Bohman of Pierre, SD, Tasha (Jimmy) Ankeney of Edgerton, WY, Angie (Jason) LaFave of Aberdeen, SD Blake of Winner, SD, Marque (Alex) Bachmann of Winner, SD, Jesse of Rapid City, SD, DaleRay (Crystal) Sell of Winner, SD, Megan DeHaan of Sioux Falls, SD, Kagney (Seth) Mosteller of Rapid City, SD, Jesse (Becca) Shelbourn of Sundance, WY, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Twila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, son Bradley, brother Emmet, sisters Jean Siewert, Shirley Broadbent and  Charlotte Colson.

The family will be directing memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Winner.

Covid-19 Update

There were no new cases of COVID-19 in Tripp County as of May 3.

There are seven active cases in Tripp County.

The number of recovered cases since COVID started is 731.

The total number of deaths in Tripp County is 17.

Statewide, there were 69 new cases reported on Monday. There are 17 new probable cases.

The active cases total 1,512.

In the state, there have been 119,263 persons who have recovered.

Currently, there are 105 persons hospitalized.

The number of deaths in the state is at 1,967.

Jay Paul Eagle Star

Jay Paul Eagle Star of Mosher, SD passed away at the Sanford USD Medical Center on April 13, 2021.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Mosher Advent Cemetery in Mosher, SD.

Jay Paul was born April 13, 2021 to Dolly Eagle Star. He passed away April 13, 2021. He blessed his mother with the short 6 months while growing in his mother’s womb. He will forever be loved and missed by his parents.

Jay Paul is survived by his parents, brothers, sisters, and many family. Preceding in death by his grandmother, Sandra Medicine Eagle, cousin, Hayden Medicine Eagle, and family.
