Matt Campbell led the Colome track team at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls this weekend.

The Colome senior threw both the shot put and the discus and placed third in each event.

Campbell started Saturday morning off with the shot put and had a third place throw of 52-09.

Later in the afternoon, Campbell threw the discus and had a throw of 166-11.

The Cowboys 4×200 relay took sixth place in 1:35.06. The Colome boys 4×100 relay took 11th in :46.44. Runners on both squads are Chase Dufek, Jackson Kinzer, Holden Thieman and Beau Bertram.

The Colome girls 4×100 relay team took fifth place in :53.01. Runners are Matrix Noteboom, Kaydee Heath, Saydee Heath and Callie Heath.

This same group of four Colome girls ran the 4x200in 1:56.37.

Saydee Heath ran the prelims in the 100 in :13.39.

Bertram ran the prelims of the 100 in :12.01.

Kelly O’Bryan competed in the triple jump in 40-05.

The next meet for Colome will be the regional on May 18.

Winner boys and girls track teams swept the team title at the Meet of Legends in Burke on May 2.

The Winner girls held off Colome by four points 71-67.

The WHS boys scored 103 points.

The Lady Warriors medley relay team pre-qualified for state by running a time of 4:28.

Runners were Morgan Hammerbeck, Alexis Richey, Chloe Bartels and Samantha Schuyler.

The meet absorbed many more teams that were supposed to be participating at the cancelled Don Riede Relays in Freeman. Instead of eight teams there were 17 in Burke.

Colome girls track team took second place at the Meet of Legends in Burke on May 2.

The Cowgirls scored 67 points.   The Colome boys took fifth place with 52 points.

Callie Heath won the 400 and Saydee Heath won the long jump.

Winner Area girls golf team won first place at the Chamberlain Invitational on April 24.
Ronae Klein won first place as she shot a 90. Addy Root, 2nd, 96; Liz Jankauskas, 4th, 100; Sam Marts, 6th, 106.

The next action for the golfers will be May 5 at Stanley County.

Winner High School boys and girls teams both won the Cecil Johnson Invitational in Presho on Thursday.

Two more Winner athletes pre-qualified for the state track meet. Sam Schuyler qualified in the 800 and Izak Moleterno in the 3200.

The Colome boys track team tied for third place with Gregory at the Platte-Geddes Relays on Saturday.

The Colome boys won the 4×100 relay and the 4×200 relay. The Cowboys won the 400 relay in :46.77 and the 800 relay in 1:37.16.

Holden Thieman won the 400 in :53.98.

Matt Campbell won both the discus and the shot put. The Colome senior had a throw of 50-8 in the shot put and 162-5 in the discus.

Colome boys and girls track teams both took second place at the Great Plains Conference meet Thursday in Scotland.

The Colome boys scored 110 points and the girls scored 84 points. Corsica-Stickney won both team titles.

Phillip Jorgensen had the game winning single to score Carter Brickman as the Winner/Colome baseball team defeated Platte 5-4 in extra innings. The game was played Monday, April 24, at Leahy Bowl.

Kelly O’Bryan earned the win in relief throwing five innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.   Ty Bolton started on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

At the plate, Kelly O’Bryan had 2 singles and a RBI. Carter Brickman scored two runs.

The next action for Winner/Colome will be on May 12 at Chamberlain which is only a junior varsity game.

The Royals will host Rapid City 320 Shooters on May 13 at Leahy Bowl in Winner at 1 p.m. This will be a varsity game only.

Winner/Colome baseball team picked up wins over Hot Springs and Gregory.

The Royals hosted Hot Springs Saturday and won the game 15-0.

Winner/Colome scored 8 runs in the second inning and added four runs in the third inning.

Nick Lantz earned the win on the mound pitching three innings with 7 strikeouts.  Dalton Baker pitched the last inning and had 2 strikeouts.

At the plate, DeMers had 2 singles, 2 runs and 4 RBIs; Carter Brickman had 2 singles and 2 RBI and Holden Thieman had a triple and scored 2 runs

Winner/Colome played in Gregory on Thursday. The Royals won the game 14-0.

Winner/Colome had a big inning in the third and sixth inning when they scored five and six runs respectively.

Carter Brickman started on the mound and pitched four innings.  Riley Calhoon pitched 2 innings in relief with 4 strikeouts.

At the plate, Brickman had a double, single and scored three runs; Phillip Jorgensen had 2 singles and an RBI; Riley Calhoon had 2 singles, 2 runs scored and an RBI and Levi McClanahan and Drew DeMers each had a single and two RBIs.

Sidda Schuyler set a new school record in the two mile at the Pierre Legion Relays on Friday. The runner ran the two mile in a record setting time of 11:50.93.

Chloe Bartels held the old record of 12:02.30 set in 2013.

The girls 4×800 relay prequalified for the state track meet in 9:57.86. Runners were Chloe Bartels, Saige Schuyler, Samantha Schuyler and Sidda Schuyler. They took third place at the Pierre meet.
