Warriors Win Game over Tri Valley

Winner boys basketball team bounced back with a win over Tri Valley in the Dakota State University Classic in Madison on Saturday.
Winner won the game 57-48.  The game was played in two 18 minute halves.

Leading the scoring were Devon Leiferman and Lattrell Terkildsen with 12 points each; Krockett Krolikowski with 10 points and Drew DeMers with 8 points.

Cameron Kuil pulled down 8 rebounds and Leiferman had 7.

Kuil had 3 steals and DeMers, 4 assists.

Wyatt Ewing had one man maker.

A large number of wrestlers competed in the Winner Youth wrestling tournament Sunday afternoon.  Results from Winner include:

Wrestlers Placed 7th

Winner Area wrestling team took 7th place at the tournament in Mitchell on Saturday.  The Warriors had four wrestlers place.

Colby Curtis took second place as he was pinned in 3:54 in the championship match by Austin Senger of Pierre.

Kayleb Brozik took third place as he won 7-2 over E. J. Leetch of Howard.

Wyatt Turnqusit and Jayden Schroeder both placed 4th.  Turnquist was pinned in 3:54 by Robert Coyle III of Watertown.  Schroeder lost 5-2 to Evan Kizer of Howard.

The Winner Area Junior Varsity wrestled Saturday in Bennett County.  Aaron Gilchrist and Jaikob Week both placed fourth.

Warriors Play Best Game of the Year

Winner High School basketball team defeated Aberdeen Roncalli 55-47 in the Heritage Classic in Sioux Falls on Saturday. Roncalli is the defending state basketball champion.  The Warriors had the chance to play in the Sanford Pentagon and with the victory improved their record to 8-2.

“We were able to put together our best game of the year and play the full 32 minutes,” said coach Brett Gardner. “It was a fun atmosphere in a great venue against the No. 2 team in the state.”

Devon Leiferman led the scoring for Winner with 20 points followed by Lattrel Terkildsen with 15 and Drew DeMers with 9.
