Lady Warriors Defeat Miller

Winner High School varsity volleyball team defeated Miller in three sets on Aug. 27. The scores were 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20.

“We came out focused and ready to play,” said coach Jaime Keiser. “We were aggressive and did a great job of attacking the ball which kept Miller on the defensive end. We were getting in defensive position and playing very well as a team,” said the coach.
Keiser said the serve receive was better “ but we still gave up a few unearned points. It was a total team effort and everyone stepped up and did what they needed to do to win.”

In the opening match of the season, the Lady Warriors fell to Bon Homme on Aug. 25.
Bon Homme took the first two 26-24, 25-21, then Winner won the third game 25-19 with Bon Homme taking the fourth 25-18.

Coach Keiser said Bon Homme is a great team and brought back everyone from last year. “They have a very balanced and athletic team. I thought we came out nervous and scared. The first two games we let Bon Homme get up 5 points before we scored. They have some good hitters and we were chasing the ball all over the place which kept us playing defense the whole time.
“We gave Bon Homme too many unearned points with attacking errors and serve receive errors. The third game we came out and took the lead right away. We were playing offense and made Bon Homme play defense and chase the ball.
“We know we did not play our best and we just need to take care of the little things. Hopefully, we will get another shot at them in the SESD Conference tournament in October,” said the coach.

The next action for the volleyball team will be Sept. 3 in a triangular in Ainsworth, Neb.
