Cross Country Girls Make History

For the first time in Winner High School history the Winner Area girls cross country team placed at the state meet.  The Lady Warriors took sixth place at the state meet in Huron on Oct. 22.

A 7th place finish by runner Sidda Schuyler makes her the highest placing girls cross county runner in the school’s history.

In addition to Schuyler, runner for Winner area were Chloe Bartels, Jaclyn Laprath, Sam Schuyler, Aryn Meiners and Meagan Blare.

Kade Watson led the Winner boys as he placed 33rd. Both Schuyler and Watson are only 7th graders. “We will be hearing their names for a long time,” said Coach Jayd Schuyler.  Izak Moleterno also ran for the Winner team at state.

“It is a good way to end the season and will allow us a lot to build on for the future,” added the coach.
