Colome’s “Premier Ag”—Your Ag Needs First

Premier Ag has opened in Colome. Premier Ag is a locally owned and operated feed business providing customized feed rations delivered to the farm/ranch. The business is owned by locals Vince and Lenna Thieman. Their son, Holden Thieman, is the general manager of the business with Bob Gnirk as the assistant manager. Kenny Jorgensen is operating as the service specialist and Avery Davis is the livestock production specialist and Purina Feeds representative. The store office is managed by Darcy Assman.

The Thieman’s purchased the business from Hansen Mueller on May 25, 2022 with the grand opening on June 1. Thieman says Premier Ag store will provide the same services of the former Colome Farm Service providing grind-and-mix services and selling Purina products. The business is located at the same location as the legendary “Colome Farm Service” on Highway 18.

Thieman says his team plans to build up the business and serve the local community. “We want to distribute the best products to our customers at competitive prices prioritizing customer’s ag needs,” said Thieman.

The business sells bulk feeds, bagged feed, creep feeds, creep feeders, salt, mineral, corn—whole, rolled, cracked, as well as oats and liquid feed. The store offers grain bank storage to local farmers/producers.

Premier Ag also has the special ability to help ranchers customize their livestock rations and provide complete diets based on their livestock needs. It is the team’s goal to truly put “your ag needs first.”

Premier Ag has started to host public meetings to provide information to farmers and ranchers. A sheep and goat meeting was held Aug. 23 with nearly 40 people in attendance. There are plans in place for a cattle focused producer meeting in September with details coming soon.

Thieman says Premier Ag is an expansion of Thieman Hay which has been a locally owned business operating out of Colome for 20 plus years. With Holden Thieman coming home from college, Vince said it seemed like a natural fit. Holden has a degree in business and agriculture from Dakota Wesleyan University.

Future plans call for installing a new grain leg to speed up the unloading of grain commodities. This should handle 6,000 to 8,000 bushels an hour. The company also plans to put up more grain bins to increase storage. Currently, they have 240,000 bushels of grain storage capacity and are looking to by corn from local customers.

Thieman says, we are willing to working with customers…putting their ag needs first with Purina products as a core. Purina is a company with great research based products, and we look forward to working with a company that has over 100 years of experience in the feed business. Thieman also mentioned Premier Ag is family owned and operated and when making the decision of which feed company to partner with, Purina stood out. Not only does Purina hold high standards in their products as top of the line quality, but hold similar values to the Thieman Family in relation to taking care of customers and treating them like family.

The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Premier Ag is closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
