Junior Teeners Nipped by Onida

The Winner Junior Teeners lost a close game 4-3 to Onida.

Coach Jon Hanson said Kameron Meiners pitched well but could not get the timely hit at the end of the game.
Nolan Sachtjen had a single that scored two runs and Phillip Jorgensen reached base safely three times.

On July 3, Winner traveled to Gregory and played them for the third time this season and Winner came away with the victory.
“Nolan pitched a gem of a game by only allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 batters in 5 innings of work,” said the coach.
The bats came alive as Winner exploded for eight hits that plated 9 runs. Leading the way on offense was Jorgensen and Sachtjen with 2 hits each and Oscar Pravecek and Sachtjen had 2 RBIs each.

Winner was defeated 5-4 in extra innings at Platte on July 6. Gage Watson and Fred Whiting shared duties on the mound and Coach Hanson said they pitched well.

Sachtjen had a double and single and scored two runs to lead the Winner offense.

Amateur Team Downs Parkston

The Winner/Colome amateur baseball team played two games on Sunday.

In the first game, the Pheasants defeated the Parkston Bullheads 5-0. Austin Calhoon was the winning pitcher.
Derek Graesser had 3 hits with 2 runs and Dillon Lambly had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

On Sunday, Winner/Colome was defeated by Corsica 6-0.
Graesser was the losing pitcher. Graesser gave up 4 hits on 11 strikeouts.
Graesser and J. J. Farner were both 2-4 with Farner having two doubles.

On Friday, Winner/Colome defeated Platte 10-8. Drew Weber was the winning pitcher with Tarrel Bauld getting the save.
Lambly had 3 hits. Graesser had a two run home run in the 9th inning and had 2 hits for the game. Turner Serr had 3 hits.

In the final game of the regular season, the Pheasants will play Platte

The district tournament starts July 23 in Platte and runs through July 31. All district games will be played in Platte.

Purple First in 12U Tournament

Winner Purple took first place in the 12U Rosebud Softball League held on July 6 and 8th in Valentine, NE. The team had a perfect 13-0 season and swept the tournament undefeated. Riley McClanahan had a 3 run in the park home run in the final game. Emmy Kaiser had a stand-up double in her last at bat. Bella Swedlund also had a 3 run in the park home run.

Legion Comes Up with Big Win Over Platte

Winner/Colome Legion baseball team defeated Platte 3-0 in 11 innings June 26 in Platte.

“This was one of the best Legion games I have seen in a long time,” said coach Drew Weber. “Both teams were solid defensively,” added the coach.

Reed Harter started on the mound and pitched 9 scoreless innings giving up 4 hits, 6 walks and striking out 8.

Kelly O’Bryan came in and picked up the win in relief.

Teeners Defeated Rapid City

Winner Teeners defeated Rapid City Risers 13-10 in game Sunday at Leahy Bowl.

Carter Brickman was the winning pitcher.  Leading hitters were Cale Meiners and Riley Calhoon each with 2 singles.

On Thursday, the Teeners defeated Onida 12-7.  Meiners was the winning pitcher.

On Friday in Gregory, Winner won 7-5. Ty Bolton was the winning pitcher.

Winner Lightning Places 2nd

Winner Lightning participated in the Oahe Power Surge fastpitch softball tournament in Pierre June 27-28.

Winner was one of six teams in the 10U division. The Winner team took second place.

The first day featured Winner playing three pool play games. They took on Rapid City Dynamite to start the tournament and Winner won 7-3. Winner beat Pierre Blue Bombers 17-5.

Winner defeated Pierre Yellow Bombers 21-5.

The second day Winner played Mitchell Adrenaline and Winner won 17-3 to make it into the championship game. The championship featured the Lightning against the Pierre Fireballs. Winner lost 10-4.

Melanie Brozik and Rylee Root received player of the game awards.

Winner Lightning finished the season with 11 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie.

They will play in the South Dakota state ASA softball tournament July 10-12 in Sioux Falls.

Legion Defeats Tabor 17-7

legion bicekWinner/Colome Legion baseball team defeated Tabor 17-7 by the 10 run rule Sunday afternoon at Leahy Bowl.  The game ended in the seventh inning.  The Royals bats were as hot as the temperature at the team scored 7 runs early in the game.  Reed Harter threw a complete game giving up seven runs (5 earned) on 5 hits, 6 walks and 7 strikeouts.

On the 4th of July in Gregory, Winner/Colome defeated Gregory 9-3.  Landon Engel earned the win on the mound. He pitched 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks and 6 strikeouts.

In a game on June 30, Tabor defeated Winner/Colome 14-4.  Engel took the loss on the mound pitching 5 innings and giving up 11 runs on 10 hits, 2 walks and 1 strikeout.

Valentine, Neb., got by Winner/Colome 11-8 in the first game of a double header  July 1 at Leahy Bowl.  Biggins took the loss on the mound.

In the second game, Valentine defeated Winner/Colome 12-2.  Jordan Turgeon took the loss on the mound.  In batting, Turgeon had 2 singles and Engel had a double.

Teeners Defeat Mission

On June 27, the Teeners lost to Parkston 8-6.  Ty Bolton was the losing pitcher. Cale Meiners was the leading hitter.

In the second game played on June 27, Winner lost to Corsica 3-2. Carter Brickman was the losing pitcher.  Rhys Middlesworth was the leading hitter.

On Sunday, June 28, Winner defeated Bon Homme 12-8. Winner scored 11 runs in the 7th inning to win the game. The team was down 8-1 before their big inning.

Meiners was the winning pitcher.

Pheasants Split with Parkston

 

 

The Winner Pheasants split a pair of games played Sunday with Parkston at Leahy Bowl.

The second game was a marathon 15 inning game with Parkston coming away with the a 3-2 win. The game was scoreless in the 13th inning when Winner/Colome’s Tarrell Bauld hit a two run double and the Pheasants were up 2-0. However the Mudcats responded right away with two runs and the score was tied. Parkston scored the winning run in the 15th inning.

In the first game Sunday afternoon, Winner/Colome won 2/0.

J.J. Farner was the winning pitcher and threw all seven innings.
