The Winner High School girls basketball team punched its ticket to the region championship with a 66-42 victory over Chamberlain Thursday in Winner.
Winner will play Cheyenne Eagle Butte on Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in Ft. Pierre.
In the semifinal game in Winner, Kelsey Bertram led the scoring with 28 points. Bailey Volmer added 15 points.
“The girls did a good job of battling all game long,” said coach Larry Aaker. “We have to give a lot of credit to Chamberlain as they came ready to play,” said the coach.
“They defended us really well in the first half and shot the ball well. We were able to use the momentum from Volmer’s half court shot right before the half to take control of the game in the second half.”
