Linkyn Petersek of Colome will be competing in the national junior high school rodeo finals June 19-25 in Lebanon, Tenn.
At nationals, Petersek will be competing in breakaway roping and ribbon roping. In breakaway roping, he will compete on Monday morning and Friday evening. Petersek and Ramee Hanson, Burke, will ribbon rope on Tuesday, June 21in the evening performance and Thursday morning.
The top 20 contestants in each event will make it back to the final go on Saturday evening.

At the state junior high rodeo in Rapid City, Petersek took 2nd in breakaway and was 4th in ribbon roping. His ribbon roping partner is Ramee Hanson of Burke.
The top four in each event at state advance to the national finals. Petersek competed in regional rodeos in Rapid City and Huron prior to the state finals. Last year, Petersek competed in the national finals in team roping.
Petersek, son of R. J. and Sara Petersek, will be an 8th grader this year at Colome School.
