Jayd Docken and Sean Bice, both of Winner, are playing vital roles in the success of Augustana College wrestling this season.
In the final dual of the season, Augustana hosted St. Cloud State on Saturday, Feb. 20. Docken won a 5-2 decision over V. J. Giulio.
Docken, a senior wrestling at 197 pounds, is 22-3 this year and leads the Vikings in winning percentage.
“Jayd has only lost to one D-II kid and he always wins,” said coach Jason Reitmeier. “Now he is really starting to score some points and open up offensively.”
Ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in the NSIC, Docken has lost two of his matches to Division I opponents.
In order to keep winning, Reitmeier says Docken just needs to keep attacking.
“He needs to just let the offense flow,” Reitmeier said. “If he keeps his attack hand free, he can beat a lot of people.”
Bice, a true freshman, is wrestling at 157 pounds and is 7-10 this year for the Vikings.
“Sean is wrestling up a weight but he is always competitive,” Reitmeier said. “He’s
got a lot of offense and we are really excited with where he will be in a couple of years.”
Reitmeier said Bice suffered a setback with mono this year which didn’t allow him to get as many matches in.
