Volleyball Team Defeats Gregory

Winner volleyball team defeated Gregory in three sets on Oct. 4.  Winner won 25-21, 25-15, 25-21.

“We came out focused and ready to play,” said coach Jaime Keiser. “We did a great job of digging and serving. We were aggressive and did a great job of attacking the ball which kept Gregory on the defensive end. We played three pretty consistent games. The girls played as a team and were having fun,” said Keiser.

Cowgirls Defeats Todd Co

The Colome volleyball team defeated Todd County Thursday in Colome.  Colome won 25-14, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-17.

The Cowgirls defeated Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Sept. 27. Colome won 25-21. 25-22 and 25-23.

The Cowgirls lost to Stuart 21-25, 17-25 and 13-25.

In the next match, Colome faced North Central and lost 17-25, 4-25 and 7-25.

The next action for Colome will be Oct. 13 when they host White River and Oct. 15 at the Andes Tourney. On Oct. 17 Colome will host St. Francis.

Colome Picks Up Fourth Victory

The Colome football team defeated Andes Central/Dakota Christian 60-6 Friday in Lake Andes.  This was the fourth victory for the No. 5 rated Cowboys.  The game was called at halftime due to the mercy rule.

O’Bryan had 100 yards rushing. Layton Thieman was 5-9 in passing for 138 yards.

Matt Campbell and Wiley Heath both had 7 tackles.

Colome will host Parker on Friday, Oct. 7.

Girls Place First at Burke Meet

The Winner Area girls cross country team won first place and the boys took second at the Burke/South Central Invitational on Thursday.

Sidda Schuyler won first place for the varsity girls. She was followed by Chloe Bartels, 5th; Sam Schuyler, 6th; Jaclyn Laprath, 8th; Aryn Meiners, 10th; Meagan Blare, 14th and Saige Schuyler, 16th.

The varsity boys were led by Izak Moleterno who placed 3rd; Kade Watson, 4th; Wyatt Turnquist, 18th; Andrew Laprath, 27th.

Lady Warriors Place 1st at Todd County

Winner Area cross country girls team took first place at the Todd County Invitational on Sept. 27.

Sidda Schuyler led the girls as she placed second followed by Chloe Bartels, 4th; Sam Schuyler, 6th Jaclyn Laprath, 8th; Aryn Meiners, 9th and Saige Schuyler, 15th.

Izak Moleterno led the Winner Area varsity boys as he took fourth place. Wyatt Turnquist was 25th and Kade Watson, 37th.

Coach Jayd Schuyler says all athletes are running well. “Izak Moleterno is training hard and it is showing in his races,” said Schuyler.

This was the fifth time the girls have ended up in first place out of seven competitions. “We were second behind Todd County twice but beat them in the last two races. It is shaping up to be a very interesting region meet,” said Schuyler.

Warriors Win 60-6

The No. 1 ranked Winner football team scored 44 points in the first quarter on their way to a 60-6 homecoming victory over Chamberlain Friday night.  The game ended at halftime due to the mercy rule.  The Warriors are 5-0 for the season.

Winner has a bye week and will not play again until Oct. 7 when they travel to Parkston.  “This is a good time to have bye week as it give us extra time to prepare for Parkston,” said Aaker.

Winner Area Places First at Platte

The Winner Area girls cross country team won first place at the Platte-Geddes Invite on Saturday.

Results of the varsity girls include Sidda Schuyler, 2nd; Chloe Bartels, 9th; Aryn Meiners, 10th; Sam Schuyler, 12th; Saige Schuyler, 17th; Meagan Blare, 22nd.

Izak Moleterno led the Winner varsity boys as he placed 7th. He was followed by Kade Watson who placed 12th.

Results of the Winner girls junior varsity include: Katherine Jankauskas, 7th; Kyran Meek, 20th; Hannah LaCompte, 29th.

For the junior varsity boys, Wyatt Turnquist placed 9th; Andrew Laprath, 13th; Kylar Meek, 29th.

In the junior high girls race, Melanie Brozik was 2nd and Joselin Kludt, 5th.
