Amateurs Defeats Platte, Pierre

Winner/Colome amateur baseball team scored the first six runs of the game and defeated Platte 11-1 Thursday night in Winner.

Austin Richey had four hits to lead the Pheasants.

Winner/Colome amateur baseball team defeated Pierre 8-3 on July 11.

Drew Weber earned the complete game victory on the mound.  The game with Pierre was a non-league game.

In the Sunshine League standings, Winner/Colome is rated 3rd with an 8-5 record.

Winner/Colome is getting ready for the Sunshine League tournament which starts July 20 in Parkston.

Winner/Colome Legion baseball team was defeated by Aberdeen Smittys 13-10 Thursday in Miller.

The Royals had a 4-5 game from Kelly O’Bryan and Levi McClanahan had two hits including a triple and drove in two runs.  Riley Calhoon scored three runs and Drew DeMers added two hits.

Carter Brickman took the loss allowing four earned runs in three innings, striking out two.  Ty Bolton and Jeremiah Yeaman pitched in relief.

Winner/Colome Legion baseball team picked up two against Ainsworth, Neb. Sunday.  This was a good day for the offense as they sharpen their skills in preparation for the Class B Legion baseball tournament which starts Friday in Winner.

In the first game in Nebraska, Winner/Colome won 28-0 in two innings.

Nick Lantz threw two innings and gave up no runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.  At the plate, Levi McClanahan had a double, 3 singles, 4 runs scored and 5 RBIs.  Drew DeMers had a double, single, and 3 RBIs, Kelly O’Bryan had 2 singles and 2 RBIs.  Nine Royals had hits in the game.

In the second game, Winner/Colome won 11-2.

Riley Calhoon earned the win pitching three innings and giving up no runs on no hits, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Drew DeMers pitched the final two innings and gave up 2 runs on 2 this, no walks and 1 strikeout.  Batting, Calhoon had 3 singles and 3 runs scored and two RBIs. DeMers and Lantz each had singles and 2 runs scored.

Winner/Colome will play McCook/Miner on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the state tournament.

Jr Legion Goes 1-2 in Tournament

The Winner Junior Legion baseball team won one game and lost two in the Sioux Falls Mid Summer Classic this weekend.

Winner lost the first game to Pierre 8-7.

Phillip Jorgensen was the pitcher.  Leading hitters were Jorgensen with 2 doubles and a single with 4 RBIs, Oscar Pravecek with 2 hits and Kameron Meiners with 2 hits and Joren Bruun with 2 hits.

Winner was defeated by Sioux Falls MB Silver 15-10.

Leading hitters were Jorgensen with 2 doubles, a home run and single with five RBIs. Preston Norrid had 2 hits and Kameron Meiners had 2 hits with Joren Bruun adding 2 hits.

In the third game, Winner shut out Brookings 10-0.

Meiners was the pitcher for Winner. Coach Justin Vietor said Meiners threw the ball well in this game.  Leading hitters were Bruun with 2 hits, Jorgensen with 3 hits, Pravecek with 2 hits and Dalton Baker with 3 hits.

Jr Teeners Eliminated in Regional

Winner Junior Teeners were eliminated by Tea 16-6 in the Regional tournament.

Zach Bohnet and Jesse Colson pitched.  Bohnet had 2 RBI’s and Adam Bohnet had an RBI triple. Michael Olson, Owen Monk, Evan Farner, Charley Pravecek and Ashton Klein also had hits.

In the opening game, Winner lost to Wagner 13-3.

Zach Bohnet and Brady Fritz shared pitching duties.  Fritz had a home run and a single, Farner and Kolbie Osborn each had 2 hits and Owen Duffy reached base four times.

In the second game, Winner was victorious over Tri Valley 12-0.

“Farner pitched a gem of a game with 4 shutout innings and had 5 strikeouts,” said coach Jon Hanson.  On the offensive side, Fritz had 4 hits, Farner, 2 hits, Klein and Osborn each had a hit.

Winner/Colome Pheasants Score Monster Week

Tarrell Bauld held Parkston to two runs and seven hits as Winner/Colome amateur baseball team edged Parkston Mudcats 3-2 Sunday in Sunshine League action.

Bauld had one strikeout and six walks in nine innings.  Derek Graesser, Dillon Lambley and Jared Donahue each had two hits for the Pheasants. Austin Calhoon, Zach Harter and Donahue each had an RBI.

Crofton, Neb., edged Winner/Colome 11-10 Friday in Mitchell.  Crofton broke a 10-10 tie in the ninth inning.

Reed Harter, Geno Katz and Ryan Richey each had doubles and Lakin Neugebauer scored two runs and two stolen bases.

Winner/Colome amateur baseball team shut out Mt Vernon 10-0 Thursday in Winner.

Jared Donahue tossed a complete one hitter game with 15 strikeouts in Sunshine League action.  Ryan Richey went 2-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs while Austin Calhoon added a double and two RBIs. Lakin Negebauer added thee hits.

Austin Richey had three hits including a grand slam home run for the Winner/Colome Pheasants versus South Central in an Independence Day game in Gregory.  The Pheasants won the game 15-3.

Austin Calhoon added three hits and Derek Graesser had a three run home run.   Lakin Neugebauer earned the win pitching five innings and Jon Hanson pitched the final two innings.

Legion Splits Games

Parkston scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a tie game and hold onto a 10-9 win over Winner/Colome Legion team Friday in Winner.

Drew DeMers had a double, single and 3 runs scored; Levi McClanahan had 2 singles and Nick Lantz had 2 singles and 3RBIs.

Ty Bolton pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 8 runs on 7 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.  Carter Brickman threw 3 1/3 innings giving up 2 unearned runs on 3 hits and 3 strikeouts.

Sunday, Winner/Colome played two games in Rapid City.  In the first game, the Royals defeated Post 320 12-10.

McClanahan had a home run, single and two RBIs; Kelly O’Bryan had a double, single and 5 RBIs; DeMers and Bolton each had 3 singles.

O’Bryan started on the mound and pitched 3 innings giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, 3 walks and 1 strikeout. DeMers threw four innings in relief giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

In the second game, Rapid City Post 320 defeated Winner/Colome 12-4.

Cameron Biggins and Carter Brickman each had 2 singles.  McClanahan and Biggins each threw 3 innings.

Winner/Colome Legion baseball team scored 10 times in the second inning and defeated Gregory County 18-1 on July 4 in Gregory.

The Royals had two hits and three RBIs from Kelly O’Bryan while Riley Calhoon, Levi McClanahan, Carter Brickman, and Ty Bolton each had two RBI games.   Nick Lantz earned the win throwing three innings and striking out three.

Prior to July 4th, the Winner/Colome team played in the Milt Simons tournament in Sioux Falls.

Aberdeen defeated Winner/Colome 14-6.  

Levi McClanahan started on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up five runs on 4 hits, 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Kelly O’Bryan and Riley Calhoon pitched in relief.  Drew DeMers had 4 singles, 3 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Nick Lantz had a single and 3 RBIs.

Dell Rapids defeated the Royals 6-1.

Riley Calhoon and Carter Brickman each had 2 singles.  Brickman started on the mound throwing 5 2/3 innings giving up 5 runs on six hits, 4 walks and 8 strikeouts. Jeremiah Yeaman pitched in relief.

Sioux Falls West defeated Winner/Colome 11-4.

At the plate, OBryan had 3 singles. DeMers had a triple and 2 RBIs.  In pitching, O’Bryan pitched 3 innings giving up 9 runs on 10 hits, 1 walk. Cale Meiners and Drew DeMers pitched in relief.

Winner/Colome defeated Baltic 11-1.

At the plate, Calhoon had a double, 2 singles and 6 RBI. Kelly O’Bryan had a home run, single and 3 RBIs. Cameron Biggins had 2 singles.  DeMers threw the complete game.

Junior Legion Skids Through Week

Winner Junior Legion baseball team played two games against Gregory and Colome Sunday at Leahy Bowl.  Gregory defeated Winner 11-6.

Dalton Baker was the pitcher giving up only 2 earned runs.  Leading hitters were Phillip Jorgensen with 2 hits and Fred Whiting with a single.

Winner was defeated by Colome Teeners 10-3.

Pitching were Aaron Gilchrist and Kameron Meiners.  Leading hitters were Fred Whiting, Oscar Pravecek and Colby Kaiser, each with a hit.

Winner Junior Legion baseball team lost 5-2 to Kimball//White Lake on July 6.

Phillip Jorgensen pitched five innings giving up no earned runs and striking out six.  Leading hitters were Tyler Olson with two hits, Fred Whiting with 2 hits and Oscar Pravecek with 2 RBIs.

Winner Junior Legion baseball team fell to Gregory 10-4 over the 4th of July weekend.

Leading hitters were Phillip Jorgensen with 3 hits, Fred Whiting with 2 hits, Kameron Meiners with 2 hits and Preston Norrid with 2 hits.

On July 1, Winner played Rapid City in two games. In the first game, Winner lost 10-6.

Pitching the first game were Aaron Gilchrist and Fred Whiting.  Leading hitters were Jorgensen with a triple, double and 2 single. Oscar Pravecek with two singles, Bosten Morehart wth 2 singles and Shea Connot with 2 singles.

In the second game, the Winner was defeated 11-8.

Pitching in this game was Kameron Meiners.  Leading hitters were Colby Kaiser with 2 hits, Dalton Baker, with 2 hits, Jorgensen with 3 hits, Whiting with 2 hits and Tyler Olson with 2 hits.

Junior Teeners Drop a Pair

Winner Junior Teeners baseball team lost to Kimball/White Lake 14-4 on July 6.
Jesse Colson and Zach Bohnet shared pitching duties.   Adam Bohnet had a triple and Charley Pravecek, Evan Farner and Zach Bohnet had hits.
On July 3, Winner lost to Gregory 3-2.
Farner went the distance and pitched the entire game. Brady Fritz had an RBI triple and Farner had an RBI double.
Region play starts next week.

Pheasants Roll over Wagner

Winner//Colome amateur baseball team shut out Wagner 12-0 Thursday at Leahy Bowl.

For the Pheasants, Drew Weber was the winning pitcher throwing all seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out five.

Austin Calhoon was 3-3 with four RBIs powered by two triples and a double. Austin Richey was 3-3 with a double and Jared Donahue was 3-3 with two RBIs.

Winner/Colome is 6-4 in Sunshine League play and 8-5 overall.

The Pheasants will host Mt. Vernon in a game July 6 at Leahy Bowl. This game will start at 8 p.m.

Winner/Colome Legion Split Games

Three Winner/Colome Legion baseball pitchers combined for a no-hitter as the Royals defeated Todd County 17-0 in six innings on June 28 in Winner.

Riley Calhoon earned the win with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.  Carter Brickman pitched one inning and Andrew Laprath threw the final two innings.

Nick Lantz was 2-4 with a double and five RBIs while Levi McClanahan added a triple and three RBIs. Cameron Biggins had two singles and two runs scored.

Winner/Colome Legion baseball team was nipped by Platte-Geddes 4-3 on June 27 in Platte.

Ty Bolton threw the entire game giving up four runs (1 earned), 8 hits, 2 walks and 9 strikeouts.

Levi McClanahan had a 2 run home run for the Royals. Riley Calhoon, Kelly O’Bryan and Cameron Biggins each had singles.
