Tripp County Range Robins JOAD & Adult Archery Club
Members of Tripp County Range Robins JOAD & Adult Archery Club – Austin Wheadon, George Clark, Parker Baker, and Wade McClanahan – Head Coach, podiumed in two different events over the course of two days.
In the South Dakota State JOAD Championships, Austin Wheadon placed 3rd in Junior (ages 17-20), George Clark placed 1st in Cadet (ages 14-17) and Parker Baker placed 1st in Junior.
In the South Dakota USA Archery State Indoor Championships, George Clark placed 1st in Cadet, Parker Baker placed 2nd in Junior, Austin Wheadon came in 4th in Junior and Wade McClanahan placed 1st in Senior (any age).
These two events also counted toward JOAD Indoor Nationals & USA Archery Indoor Nationals but the result for those events won’t be finial until all the locations have shot which will be the end of March.
These archers are also participating in the World Archery Indoor Series which has gone virtual for this year. There are four events in the series and so far they have shot the 2nd and 3rd stage & shot the 4th and final stage on Feb. 13 at the Rushmore Rumble in Yankton.
The World Archery series are made of the best archers around the world and there are no age divisions or different bow classes besides mens, women’s, compound or recurve. They were able to use their State scores towards the 3rd stage. For the third stage Wade McClanahan placed 23rd, Parker Baker 130th, George Clark 195th and Austin Wheadon 450th out of 710 shooters.

Northern State University finished with an undefeated season
Wyatt Turnquist of Winner, a member of the Northern State University wrestling team won a 7-1 over Chandler Mooney of the University of Mary on Thursday in Aberdeen.
Northern finished with an undefeated season and won the NSIC championship.
This was Northern’s first NSIC title since 2002.
Trap shooting awards presented
The Winner/Colome high school trap team recently handed out awards from the fall league. Winner/ Colome had the top 2 shooters in the state. Parker Baker was high overall male in the state and also high overall shooter with a 24 average. He also was 1st place male in the conference and high overall shooter in the conference. Katie Welker was the high overall female shooter in the state with a 23.8 average and was 1st place female shooter in the conference. As a team the Winner/Colome shooter took 1st place in the conference.
The following are the scores for each shooter for the 5 weeks of shooting. The scores are the number of targets out of 50 that are hit. Week 1: Jack Anderson 47, Parker Baker 47, Matt Brozik 33, Megan Brozik 32, George Clark 44, Faith Covey 44, Hunter Osborn 38, Cole Rank 41, Hunter Shippy 44, and Katie Welker 48.
Week 2: Jack 45, Parker 50, Matt 26, Megan 36, George 44, Faith 38, Hunter O 32, Cole 44, Hunter S 38 and Katie 46.
Week 3: Jack 44, Parker 48, Matt 33, Megan 37, George 46, Faith 40, Hunter O 35, Cole 39, Hunter S 35 and Katie 48.
Week 4: Jack 43, Parker 47, Matt 30, Megan 39, George 45, Faith 41, Hunter O 42, Cole 34. Hunter S 31 and Katie 47.
Week 5: Jack 46, Parker 48, Matt 28, Megan 35, George 41, Faith 33, Hunter O 43, Cole 40, Hunter S, 38 and Katie 49.

AAU wrestlers place
The Winner AAU wrestling team tied for 4th place at a recent tournament in Gettysburg.
Rylan Robbins, Roukyn Robbins and Jace Koskan all placed first.
Also placing were Rhogan Robbins, 2nd; Hudson Peters, 2nd; Addyson Wingert-Hempel, 3rd and Eli Orel, 4th.
Apollo Willuweit placed second at Harrisburg and Legend Benedict placed 2nd at Huron on Sunday.
The Winner AAU wrestling tournament will be held Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
