Rick Munroe, 53

Ric Munroe, 53, of Winner, SD passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at the Mercy Downtown Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial service was held on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD.

Ric was born in Boston, Mass., July 24 1966 to Carolyn Parker. He has traveled due to military services. He went to Mitchell High School and graduated. Then he proceded to go to college and get his degree in safety. Then he moved to Yankton and met the love of his life, and got married Oct. 5, 2002, and proceeded to have 3 beautiful boys.

He was a very dedicated and loyal father and husband. He loved to watch and play all sports with his boys. His favorite saying was “Drop the Plow and Run.” There wasn’t a sport he didn’t love to do or watch the boys do. Ric also loved to cook and loved watching cooking shows. He was so dedicated to his family. He also loved his pets.

He is preceded in death by his mom Carolyn Belle Parker, his grandfather Nelson Ely Parker, and a niece Nova Smith.

He left behind his wife Lisa, their 3 sons Tristin, Caden, and Shae Munroe.

His brother Bill Smith, and his family, sisters; Tracy Jackson and her family, Adrienne Hunter and her family, nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Also, sister-in-law Renae Smith and her family and brother-in-law Brad Kleinschmit and his family.

Lavonne Jelinek, 71

LaVonne (Schroeder) Jelinek, 71, of Colome, SD passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020 at the Avera Gregory Health Care Center in Gregory, SD.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home in Winner, SD. Burial will be held at a later date.

LaVonne Marie (Schroeder) Jelinek was born May 1, 1948 to Dellos and Norma (Wolf) Schroeder. She was born in Mitchell, South Dakota. LaVonne attended grade school in Fulton, SD and Alexandria High School.

LaVonne is the third of five girls, they made their home on the family farm northeast of Alexandria, where she helped do chores and care for her younger sister Beverly. LaVonne was a member of the Lutheran Church in Alexandria where she was baptized and confirmed.

After moving off the family farm she moved to Aberdeen, SD where she met her first husband, Lee. Together they had one son, Michael Stober. They lived in many different cities traveling to where Lee worked. They were divorced in 1986-87.

In 1988 she met and married Dave Jelinek. They made their home in Colome, where she would drive to Winner daily to care for the Carpenter’s children. She worked as a nanny for two families. First, the Carpenters, also aiding in caring for the Tobin kids. They were all like her own children.

LaVonne, also, had a chihuahua, Newt, that was very dear to her heart. Known for her infectious laughter and flawless skin she was loving and caring, a good teacher, but never a push over.

After all of her nanny children grew up and left their home, LaVonne then spent her time with her husband, she attended car shows with her husband Dave, with her sister Beverly, and husband Darrell Ulmer. LaVonne also enjoyed a good rummage sale, and Dave enjoys junkin’.

LaVonne is survived by her husband, Dave Jelinek; children, Mike and LeeAnn (Goke) Stober, of Albuquerque, NM; sisters and spouses, Delores (Ron Peterson) Schroeder of Mitchell, SD, Barb (Jerry Braaten) Schroeder of Wheaton, MN, and Beverly (Darrell Ulmer) Schroeder of Freeman, SD; one uncle, Harold (Marlene) Wolf; grandchildren, Courtney, Caitlyn, and Chris; great grandchildren, Chelsea, Alexis, and Ryland.

LaVonne is preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Marilyn, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and some cousins.
