Winner Area girls cross county team won first place at the Southeast South Dakota Conference meet in Winner on Oct. 3.
In the girls race, Winner had four girls in the top five. The team was led by Sidda Schuyler in 2nd, Jaclyn Laprath, 3rd, Chloe Bartels, 4th and Sam Schuyler, 5th. Also placing for Winner were Aryn Meiners, 14th; Meagan Blare, 18th and Saige Schuyler, 25th.
The Winner Area varsity boys took second place and were led by Izak Moleterno who placed 5th. He was followed by Kade Watson, 10th; Dawson Phillips, 16th; Wyatt Turnquist, 21st and Andrew Laprath, 23rd.
In the junior varsity girls race, Katherine Jankauskas was 8th and Kyran Meek,10th and Charlotte Shopene, 11th. In the junior varsity boys race, Atlas Willuweit placed 10th and Kylar Meek, 15th.
Coach Jayd Schuyler says all runners continue to improve. This is the girls seventh meet championship out of nine races and they finished second in two others.
The Region 4A meet will be Oct. 13 in Chamberlain.
