Hand Game Team Takes Second

The Hanpa Tec’ unpi Akic’ita (hand game Warriors) won second place at tournament April 29 at St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain.

The team beat St. Joe’s middle school in the first round, St. Joe’s high school in the second round, lost to Crow Creek in the third round, beat Todd County in the fourth round (to come off the loser bracket) and beat St. Joe’s middle school again in the fifth round.

The team played Pine Ridge in the championship round and lost taking second place.

There were a total of 11 team in the tournament.
