The Dakota senior meals program received $1,000 to help cover the cost of serving nutritious lunches to older residents in south central South Dakota.
The Pierre office of Farm Credit Services of America made the contribution as part of its commitment to supporting the rural communities it serves.
The Dakota Senior meals program, a non profit program, has been providing lunches to seniors age 60 and over for the past three decades. The program serves meals five days a week through nutrition sites and home deliveries.
FCS America’s donation recognizes the important role that local nutrition programs play in ensuring area residents share in the bounty produced by America’s farmers and ranchers. John DeMers, a financial officer in the Pierre office, presented the donation to Diane Schroeder with the Dakota Senior meals program.
