Keiser Plans to Retire after 35 years with Fidelity Agency

For 35 years, Chuck Keiser has worked hard to help people with insurance and real estate needs.

He has served as the agent at Fidelity Agency for all those years. Now, Chuck is retiring and handing the duties over to another well qualified individual.

A retirement open house honoring Keiser will be held Feb. 17 from 1-3:30 p.m. in the lobby of First Fidelity Bank of Winner. The public is invited to attend and wish Chuck well on his retirement.

Cast Chosen for Play

Winner Community Playhouse is planning a production to be presented in mid-March.

“The Last Round-Up of the Guacamole Queens” will be presented March 9, 10, 11 and March 16, 17 and 18 at the playhouse.
The cast includes: Candace Patmore, Brandy Biggins, Barb DeSersa, Tami Comp, Kenzie Irick, Maurice Gustafson, Kallie Foudray, Donna Howland, Linda Watson, Doug Nelson, Dan Patmore and Charles York.

The play is directed by Sandra York with Dan Patmore as the technical director.

This is another in the series of plays on the Verdeen family from Sweetgum, Texas.

Rehearsals are underway for this production.

Wrestlers Place Fifth

Winner Area wrestling team took fifth place at the Huron tournament on Saturday.

The Warriors had six wrestlers place. Wyatt Turnquist took 1st; Atlas Willuweit and Kayleb Brozik, both 2nd; Kaden Keiser, 3rd; Jayden Schroeder, 4th and Aaron Gilchrist, 6th.

The next action for the wrestlers will be the regional tournament which is Saturday, Feb. 18, in Wagner. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m.

Warriors Nipped by St. Francis

The battle between the Winner High School boys basketball team and St. Francis came down to the wire.

In the end, St. Francis nipped the Warriors 47-46 in the final three seconds of the game.

DeMers led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Waytt Ewing, 14; Isaac Naasz, 10 and Trevor Bertram, 5.

Brandon Volmer pulled down 9 rebounds, Naasz, 6 and Chase Kingsbury, 4.  Bertram had 4 assists.

Platte Nips Colome

Platte-Geddes nipped the Colome boys basketball team 50-47 Thursday in Platte.

The Cowboys had four players in double figures—Kolton Salonen with 13, Kelly O’Bryan, 11; Layton Thieman and Holden Thieman with 10 each.

Holden Thieman pulled down 6 of Colome’s 18 rebounds. Salonen grabbed 5 rebounds.  Holden Thieman had 5 steals.
