Winner/Colome Scores Run in Sixth Inning

Jackson Kinzer of the Winner/Colome club baseball team threw a shutout May 2 as the Royals defeated Platte-Geddes 1-0.

It was a battle of undefeated teams with Winner/Colome coming out the victor.

Kinzer pitched all seven innings. Coach Drew Weber said Kinzer’s performance on the mound was nothing short of stellar. “He attacked their hitters and allowed our defense to make plays behind him,” said coach Drew Weber. “Throwing a compete game shutout in only 79 pitches is pretty impressive but even more so against such a solid lineup,” said Weber.

The Royal’s lone run came in the sixth inning. In scoring the run, Nick Lantz drew a walk and Chase Dufek used his speed and aggressiveness to score the lone run,” said Weber.

In addition to Dufek, key hitters were Jackson Kinzer, Dalton Baker, Riley Calhoon, Levi McClanahan and Carter Brickman all with hits.

I think our bats were a little too aggressive and we didn’t take advantage of some good pitches to hit but we still found a way to win, which is the sign of a good team,” said Weber.
