Stanley Alan Jacobsen was born November 2, 1951 in Burke, SD to Donald and Betty (Bouslaugh) Jacobsen, the third of seven children. Stan grew up on a farm south of Dallas and went to a one room country school. After starting high school, he went from one classmate to seventy and quickly made friends with many of them. In high school some of his achievements were student body president, playing football, and wrestling.

Stan was married to Lynn Wortman at a young age. From this union came his eldest son Adam and two grandchildren, Abby and Jake—so the Jacobsen family has a real Jake. He worked on the farm years while managing the Homesteader Bar in Gregory. He then moved to Winner where he was the proprietor of the Pheasant Bar and Dick’s Place.

Stan married Tami Beran in 1990 and from that union Tessa and Skyler were born. Tess is exceptionally talented in music and Skyler was an exceptional athlete and Valedictorian of his class. Stan was so very proud of his children.

After leaving The Pheasant and Dick’s Bar in Winner, Stan went to work for Sioux Steel Company for the remainder of his working years. He was recognized with many accomplishments as well as outstanding employee and salesperson of the year in 2008. He was forced to quit because of his illness. What many people probably do not know about Stan is that he was a faithful student of God’s Word, studying from one to three hours daily for the last 18 years.

On May 27, 2015 Stan passed away in his home in Yankton at the age of 63 years.
