Legion Splits Games

Winner/Colome American Legion baseball team split a pair of games Saturday in Winner.

The Royals were defeated 1-0 by Parkston in the first game.

Jackson Kinzer had the lone hit for the Royals.

Ty Bolton pitched seven innings with one unearned run, 6 hits, 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.

In the second game the Royals played they defeated Wagner 7-1.

Levi McClanahan had a double and 2 runs, Kinzer, an RBI double and Cale Meiners, a single and 2 runs.

Carter Brickman pitched all seven innings giving up one run, 1 hit, 3 walks, 9 strikeouts.

I thought our pitching was fantastic all day,” said coach Drew Weber. “Ty and Carter threw great games and put us in spots to be successful We didn’t make quite enough plays against Parkston and our bats didn’t show up but we played much better against Wagner.

We need to bring a little more consistency game in and game out but we have the pieces to make a run in the post season,” said Weber.

The next action for the Legion will be a make-up game with Valentine, Neb., on July 5 at 7:30 p.m. at home.

On July 8 the Legion will play in Garretson.
